GOLD FILLED JEWELRY
What does Gold Filled mean?
Gold Filled jewelry is created by applying gold over a base metal such as brass, rhodium, copper or sterling silver.
How long will it last?
Under normal wearing conditions, and with proper care, your gold filled jewelry can last a lifetime. It does not chip or peel easily as gold plated jewelry does. Heavy wear and rough conditions will, of course, impact how your jewelry looks. This is true no matter what your jewelry is made of.
How do I clean my jewelry?
Warm water and a soft cloth are the best things you can do to maintain the beauty of your jewelry.
Things to avoid?
To maintain your jewelry, whether it is gold filled or solid gold, salt water, chlorine (swimming pools) and all heavy detergents and cleaning agents should be avoided.
Most fashion jewelry is layered or overlaid with genuine 14kt, 18kt, or 24kt gold, and is manufactured to give you a lifetime of enjoyment with minimal care.
Please keep in mind that detergents and lotions can slowly erode the finish off of all types of jewelry, including fashion jewelry. Keep your items away from chlorine bleach and all household cleaners. These will cause damage to the item and stones. Jewelry should always be removed before swimming and washing dishes.
To make your fashion jewelry last longer keep it stored individually or in small plastic bags/containers. Mixing them with other fashion jewelry for long periods of time can sometimes cause erosion.
